Martha Silva earned her degree in Architecture from “Universidad Santo Tomas” and worked as a registered Architect in Colombia for over 10 years. She also had the opportunity to teach “Expresion II” at the “Universidad Santo Tomas” demonstrating for students how architectural projects can use Computer Aided Design (AutoCAD) in artistic ways. Her passion for fine arts developed during her university years as she was exposed to drawing, watercolors, photography and art history. Later she was motivated to pursue her love of painting, taking private lessons for over a year with artist Torres Iregui.
In 2006, Martha emigrated to Canada and currently lives in the Toronto area. She continued her education in fine arts at OCAD University and earned a certificate in Art and Design s.s.
Her work is characterized by bright primary and secondary colors, simplified lines, mostly arcs and curves and basic geometric shapes. She has particular interest in spiritual and natural worlds.
She has exhibited in Colombia as well as in Canada.
